Mandarin Oriental Launches MO.RE Sustainability Platform
October 28, 2026
HONG KONG — Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has launched MO.RE, a sustainability platform that will guide decisions across hotel investment, development, design, operations and the guest experience.
According to the company, the initiative is organized around three areas — resilience, reconnection and regeneration — and is intended to move the company’s sustainability strategy beyond incremental and compliance-focused measures.
Mandarin Oriental said the platform builds on progress toward its 2030 sustainability targets. Over the past 15 years, the company has reduced Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 33% and recorded more than 80,000 employee volunteer hours, according to the news release.
Under the resilience component, Mandarin Oriental plans to develop climate-risk profiles for each hotel, establish a pathway toward net-zero emissions by 2050 and increase its visibility into Scope 3 emissions across the company’s value chain.
The reconnection component will focus on guest and employee experiences tied to nature, culture and destinations. Planned initiatives include a biodiversity-focused kids club concept, annual family days for employees and destination-based culinary and wellness programming.
The regeneration component will focus on biodiversity preservation, hospitality vocational education and support for artists, artisans and cultural heritage. The company also plans to use its Celebrity Fans ambassador program to support community causes.
Group Chief Executive Laurent Kleitman said the initiative is intended to place sustainability more directly within the company’s business strategy, including operational performance, resilience and destination stewardship.
Chief of Staff and Group Director of Sustainability Kandé Camara said the company also sees sustainability as increasingly connected to what luxury travelers value, including distinctive destinations and stronger connections to local communities and culture.
Mandarin Oriental currently operates 47 hotels, 16 residences and 43 homes in 30 countries and territories.
