Kimpton El Castelar Names Alejandro Gallegos General Manager

MEXICO CITY — Kimpton El Castelar has appointed Alejandro Gallegos general manager of the recently opened 34-room boutique hotel in Mexico City’s Polanco neighborhood.

Gallegos will oversee operations at the property, which is located in the historic Roel Building. He will continue serving as general manager of sister property Kimpton Virgilio, giving him oversight of both Kimpton hotels in Polanco.

Gallegos has more than three decades of hospitality experience across Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay, including hotel openings, repositionings and operational leadership.

Before joining Kimpton, he served as general manager and led the opening of Hotel Alexander in Mexico City, which later received Michelin Key recognition. He also held leadership roles with Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco & Spa in Uruguay and Grace Cafayate in Argentina.

Gallegos has participated in the opening of seven hotels and the renovation of several others, including properties within the InterContinental portfolio. His experience also includes food and beverage strategy, commercial development and operational planning.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel management from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
