Motel 6 Kansas City International Airport Sold, Planned for Repositioning

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An 82-room Motel 6 near Kansas City International Airport has been sold to a Dallas-based hotel redevelopment specialist, with plans calling for renovation, rebranding and conversion to an extended-stay property.

The property, at 8230 NW Prairie View Road, sits on approximately 3 acres and was originally developed as a corporately owned Motel 6 in the early 1980s.

The buyer’s name and purchase price were not disclosed in the news release.

HotelBrokerOne represented the transaction, with Bruce Holmes and Peter Holmes handling the sale through the brokerage firm’s Oklahoma City office. The firm also secured the buyer.

Bruce Holmes, CEO of HotelBrokerOne, said the planned extended-stay repositioning is intended to capitalize on longer-term lodging demand in the Kansas City metropolitan area, particularly around the airport.

“The buyers see significant potential in the property and plan to rebrand the hotel, creating an opportunity to reposition the asset and better serve the Kansas City market,” Holmes said.
