Crowne Plaza Debuts New Americas Flagship in Times Square
NEW YORK — Crowne Plaza by IHG has opened the 685-room Crowne Plaza Manhattan Times Square as the brand’s new flagship property in the Americas.
Developed by Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company and managed by Highgate, the 22-story hotel occupies a building originally constructed for the 1964 New York World’s Fair. The property has been redeveloped with new guestrooms, public areas, food-and-beverage outlets and meeting spaces.
The hotel is located near Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the Broadway Theater District and Central Park. Guestrooms offer city views, while artwork and large-scale murals by Brazilian-born, Atlanta-based artist Tiago Magro appear throughout the property.
Fifty-First Street Social serves as the hotel’s bar and all-day restaurant. The property also includes a 24-hour marketplace with grab-and-go food, beverages and travel essentials.
Meeting facilities include flexible spaces for small groups and The Studio, an area near the lobby designed for smaller meetings and collaborative work. The hotel also offers a dedicated meetings and events concierge.
The upper-floor Manhattan Level includes suites and guestrooms with skyline views. The Broadway Suite, a penthouse accommodation on the 22nd floor, includes an outdoor terrace.
“Our ambition was to transform this landmark property into a distinctive destination that combines contemporary design, functionality and enhanced guest experiences,” ARTIC Managing Director and CEO Tarek M. El Sayed said. “This transformation represents much more than a renovation; it reflects our long-term vision for the asset and our confidence in New York and the strong U.S. hospitality market.”
Crowne Plaza operates more than 400 hotels globally and has a pipeline of nearly 150 properties. IHG said the pipeline represents more than 36,000 rooms and would expand the brand’s worldwide room count by more than 35%.
