R Collection Hotels Appoints Montagnani to Area General Manager, Lake Como

LAKE COMO, ITALY — Following its recent expansion in the Lake Como region, R Collection Hotels, a family-owned luxury hotel portfolio, has announced in a press release the appointment of Marco Montagnani as area general manager, Lake Como. Montagnani oversees six properties in the region: Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa, Victoria Beach, Villa Cipressi, Hotel Royal Victoria, and the brand’s newest additions, Bianca Relais and Casa du Lac.

Montagnani’s 25-plus years in luxury hospitality includes leadership roles at prestigious hotels. He joined R Collection Hotels six years ago as GM of the Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa. During his tenure, Montagnani played a pivotal role in the reopening of the hotel after a comprehensive three-year renovation.

Grand Hotel Victoria, in the heart of Menaggio, is situated on the shores of Lake Como. This completely renovated property blends the charm of the 19th century with contemporary details. Enriched by gardens and a 12,000 sq. ft. spa with personalized treatment programs, swimming pools, and signature scents handcrafted in-house, the hotel is surrounded by views of the mountains and villas framing the waters of Lake Como. This year, the Grand Hotel Victoria introduces its brand-new Presidential Suite, which features spacious living areas and views of Lake Como.

Just steps away, Victoria Beach provides a private lakeside retreat with direct water access, sun beds, umbrellas, and gazebos for a day in the sun. Across Lake Como, the Hotel Royal Victoria is an exclusive mansion in the heart of Varenna. A 2018 renovation was completed on this 19th century property in cooperation with the Superintendence for Architectural and Landscape Heritage of Milan. Located next door, Villa Cipressi, built between the 15th and 19th centuries, is positioned in a series of buildings and botanical gardens rich with history. Directly overlooking Lake Como, Hotel Villa Cipressi offers views of Bellagio.

New for the 2025 season, Casa du Lac will open under the R Collection portfolio in April. It will be located a short distance from Hotel Villa Cipressi and Hotel Royal Victoria in Varenna, one of Lake Como’s most picturesque hamlets.

Rounding out the collection in the Lake Como District, Bianca Relais is located in Oggione in the Lombardy region.
