Marriott Marquis Houston Appoints Juan Calderon as New Hotel Manager

HOUSTON — Marriott Marquis Houston announced Juan Calderon has been named the new Hotel Manager. In his role, he will serve as the strategic business leader of property operations at the 1,000-room urban resort and be responsible for areas including front office, recreation/fitness center, housekeeping, security loss/prevention, engineering/maintenance, food and beverage, and event management.
He will work with other members of Marriott Marquis Houston’s Executive Committee and department heads to develop and implement property-wide strategies, ensuring customer needs are met, employees are satisfied, and financial performance is on target, according to a press release.
Calderon has a 20-year history with Marriott International, serving most recently as General Manager at the Marriott Dallas Downtown. He successfully led the hotel to a strong COVID recovery, realized in top-line revenues, profitability, and guest service measures.
Prior to that, Calderon was the GM of the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Westlake Solana. He has held a variety of leadership positions with Marriott, including Area Director of Operations for the Mid-West, Sr. Manager of Room Operations for Select Service and Extended Stay – West, and Director of Ops at the Marriott Dallas/Fort Worth Westlake Solana. He has also worked for The Renaissance Dallas, The Renaissance Austin, and The Mayflower Hotel. During his time in Dallas, Calderon also served on the board of the North Texas Hotel Association.

Calderon will work closely with the recently appointed Laasri to refine and execute the hotel’s strategic vision, and together, they will elevate the offerings of this sought-after hotel in the heart of downtown Houston.
