Conference Center and Dolce by Wyndham Hotel Approved for Ridgeland, Miss.

RIDGELAND, Miss. — Madison County has approved plans to move forward with a 50,000-square-foot conference center that will be paired with a privately financed 250-room Dolce by Wyndham hotel at Prado Vista in Ridgeland, Miss.

The Madison County Conference Center will be the county’s first dedicated conference center of its kind and is designed to accommodate up to 1,800 attendees for conferences, corporate meetings, school banquets, trade shows and regional events.

The conference center and hotel represent a combined investment of approximately $120 million, according to a news release. The conference center will be financed through an urban-renewal bond structure, while the Dolce hotel will be financed privately by PraCon Global Investment Group.

The project includes a commitment to direct approximately $18.9 million in tourism rebate proceeds back to Madison County to accelerate repayment of construction debt for the conference center, rather than retaining those proceeds as a developer incentive, according to the announcement.

“This conference center changes the landscape of Madison County. It’s not just a building; it’s a recruitment tool that helps us compete for corporate relocations, conventions and investment we simply couldn’t pursue before,” said Joseph P. Deason, executive director of the Madison County Economic Development Authority. “This is exactly the kind of infrastructure that sets Madison County apart.”

The adjoining Dolce by Wyndham will bring Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ upper-upscale meetings and resort brand to Mississippi for the first time. The hotel is planned with multiple dining venues and amenities intended to support the conference center and the broader Prado Vista development, which is currently home to Topgolf.

Local officials said the project is intended to help Madison County attract larger meetings and events while generating visitor spending at area restaurants, retailers and service businesses.

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee said the conference center addresses a need discussed by local leaders for years. Sam Kelly, chairman of the Madison County Business League & Foundation and president of the Madison County School Board, said local restaurants, school districts, retailers and service providers are expected to benefit from the project over time.
