March 31, 2025
CHARLESTON, SC — Crystal Creek Capital, a Jackson Hole, Wyoming-based private equity real estate investment firm, has announced in a press release the acquisition of Planters Inn, a landmark luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of this city’s historic district. CCC will also take over the day-to-day management of the 64-room boutique hotel, which was built in 1844 as a luxury goods emporium.
Planters Inn is Charleston’s only Relais & Châteaux property. CCC is planning an extensive renovation with the intention of connecting the storied history of Charleston to the hotel and ultimately the guest experience.
“We are incredibly proud to be a part of the Charleston community and intend to be great stewards of this beloved hotel by honoring its incredible legacy,” said Crystal Creek Hospitality President Jamie Yarrow. “Charleston is a vibrant city, rich in culture, historic architecture, with an exciting arts and dynamic culinary scene, and our goal is to infuse Planter’s Inn with the city’s undeniable allure, to ensure it remains a beacon of Southern hospitality for generations to come.”
Boasting a traditional Southern design featuring high ceilings, hickory furnishings, Audubon prints, and four-poster beds, Planter’s Inn features spacious guest rooms and suites, and 5,500 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting and event space, including a private courtyard designed by Sheila Wertimer, the acclaimed landscape architect credited with creating Charleston’s most elegant gardens. At the heart of the hotel, set amongst Palmetto trees and a garden of flickering lights, sits the award-winning Peninsula Grill, a four-diamond and four-star restaurant. With its dining room, whose walls are clad in shimmering velvet oyster tones, woven seagrass floors, and custom chandeliers, Peninsula Grill has received both local and national acclaim. Its menu features Lowcountry twists that combine modern Southern cooking techniques with fresh seafood, prime cut steaks, and local produce.
